Mady Marcelino who designs and illustrates, heavily angles the aesthetic of manga; her works exhibiting concrete structures rendered in black and white. Initially an outlet to self soothe in solitude, Mady once clung from one drawing to the next, unconsciously constructing a meditative process all of her own. And it’s that same sense of stillness that transcends the sturdy lines that have built her up as a person. Mady figures that architecting an outlet of peace will forever be a work in progress, admitting that the unpredictability of the creative life tends to shake her at times. As not to get lost in the streets of chaos, the illustrator grounds herself back to a purely personal intention: to create spaces of refuge within her being.
To Mady, a developed community isn’t solely defined by its modern infrastructure, but by the spirit of harmony that drives people towards a unified progression.
