Rooted in his frustrations of being unable to sketch proportionally accurate figures, “Distort Monsters” adopted his moniker to warrant his badly-drawn, cartoons. The artist, who battled multiple anxieties in the past, found solace in ravaging boxes full of sketchpads with his repetitive lines; the unintentionally meditative act inadvertently paving birth to a series of monsters. Formerly a creative outlet that bailed the street artist out of his obsessive overthinking, Distort interestingly wonders whether the same candy-colored creatures could have been the same beasts that terrorized his mind.
A hug, a high five, or a thumbs up; featuring friendly monsters faintly signing gestures, the artist’s illustration touches on how little acts, when done in good faith, disproportionately brighten another’s day.
